Initially titled PASSALAN the name change came about when I realised that there was no way that I could use the character of Passalan as much as I wanted to. With my brother living forty miles away, it was difficult to get together enough to shoot the necessary scenes.
The character of Garm was supposed to be the minor character so that I could spend more time behind the camera, but I had no choice but to swap the characters of Garm and Passalan around.
The title was a one point going to be called THE GALZAC CONSPIRACY and a title sequence was shot, but eventually I settled for PULSAR, which sounds much better.
I wrote eighteen scripts initially but very soon had to make severe changes. None of these episodes was meant for public viewing when I made them; they were just to prove to myself that I could do it, but now, many years later I can release them onto the world and watch them with a sense of detachment.
It took over ten years to make PULSAR, and even then I wasn't entirely happy with the results, but it was done out of love and very little else. There was a lot of good-will from like-minded (and not so like-minded) friends, which included actors and someone willing to lend me their spare bedroom to convert into a studio The sets were made from all kinds of rubbish that i could lay my hands on.
